CAN CHEMISTRY BE ONE SIDED – ATTRACTION OR CHEMISTRY?

Chemistry is a bit of an enigma, difficult to define but noticeable when you experience it. But can chemistry ever be one-sided?

There has been some debate on this issue, with people falling on both sides. But the problem here is simply one of perspective.

What Is Chemistry?

The chemistry between two people is the natural ease with which they can interact and communicate.

There are different types of chemistry. For instance, conversational chemistry allows for endless conversations without running out of things to say. There is also value chemistry, professional chemistry, and, of course, intimate physical chemistry.

When we say that we “have chemistry” with someone, we usually mean that we have all or most of these chemistry types with them. One type will usually dominate, but chemistry is rarely confined to only one type.

Chemistry in a relationship is incredibly important. You know this if you have ever had a boring, dull relationship and lacked any sense of excitement. It contributes to the conversation, cooperation, and physical intimacy – all essential things in a (romantic) relationship. So having chemistry is vital. When you think you have chemistry with someone and it turns out they don’t feel the same way, it may be tempting to believe that you have experienced one-sided chemistry.

The Myth Of One-Sided Chemistry

People who say it is possible to have one-sided chemistry usually refer to other things. Having a one-sided attraction is possible. This can be emotional or physical attraction, and often both.

If you experience a one-sided attraction of any type, you might be under the impression that there is also the chemistry between you and that it is also partial. But chemistry cannot be one-sided. You would be mistaking attraction for chemistry, a common mistake that is perfectly natural.

Chemistry Is Never One-Sided

The reason that chemistry cannot be one-sided is very simple.

Chemistry is a property of a relationship. That is, there is either chemistry in a relationship or there is not.

The clue to this is in the following phrases:

“We have chemistry together.”

“I had great chemistry with him.”

“Our chemistry was incredible!”

Compare these to the following phrases:

“I had chemistry for him.”

“We both had chemistry for each other.” The latter phrase sounds right. Chemistry, like the tango, takes two. It’s like holding hands – either you are holding hands together, or neither is holding hands.

The difficulty is that sometimes it will feel like you have great chemistry with someone, but it turns out that it was all imagined.

In that case, you had one-sided attraction rather than biased chemistry.

The core reason underneath it all that chemistry cannot be one-sided is that chemistry is an interaction.

Just like scientific chemistry, it is about mixing ingredients to create reactions. So remember, the next time you think you have experienced one-sided chemistry, remind yourself that it is probably just one-sided attraction.

It’ll pass, and there are people with whom you will share intense, mutual chemistry.

FAQ

Q: Can One Person Feel Chemistry And Not The Other? A: Chemistry isn’t one-sided. Chemistry is a relationship between two individuals. If you sense chemistry with someone, it indicates they feel the same way about you.

However, as mentioned in the previous section, there are exceptions. As a result, if you feel drawn to someone but they don’t reciprocate your feelings, you might believe that the chemistry is one-sided.

Q: Can chemistry be one-sided?

A: Generally speaking, no. Chemistry is usually mutual. If you feel a strong connection with someone, they likely feel it too.

Most of us confuse chemistry with mutual attraction, which are two different things. It’s possible to be attracted to someone without feeling any chemistry with them.

Attraction is simply physical or emotional attraction. It’s the pulling force that draws you towards another person.

Chemistry, on the other hand, is much deeper. Something intangible makes you feel like you just “click” with someone. When the other person does not reciprocate the feelings, we assume our chemistry is one-sided.

But sometimes, the person we’re most compatible with is not the person we’re attracted to. And sometimes, the person we’re attracted to is not the person we have chemistry with.

Q: Can Attraction Be One-Sided?

A: Yes, there are cases when one person is more attracted to another individual. Attraction is a person’s physical or emotional response to someone else. It’s the feeling that draws us in.

We can be attracted to someone without having any chemistry with them. Because attraction is only the first reaction, this is usually the case. It’s what attracts us to someone in the first place. Q: How To Tell If Attraction Is One-sided?

A: It can be difficult to tell if the attraction is one-sided, but some key indicators can help you figure it out.

If you find yourself constantly thinking about the person, you’re attracted to, but they never seem to think about you or show any interest in you, it’s likely that the attraction is one-sided. Additionally, if you find yourself making all the effort to pursue the person you’re attracted to without reciprocation, it’s also likely that the attraction is one-sided.

If you’re unsure whether the attraction is one-sided, it’s important to communicate with the person you’re attracted to.

Ask them if they’re interested in you or feel the same way about you.

Q: Are Karmic Relationships One-sided?

No karmic relationship can be fulfilling and loving without being one-sided.

However, karmic relationships are often one-sided because one person is usually more invested in the relationship than the other. This can be due to various reasons, such as unresolved issues from past lives or a desire to help the other person heal.

Whatever the reason, if you find yourself in a one-sided karmic relationship, it’s important to communicate with your partner and ensure that both of you are on the same page.
